The primary purpose of the Instrumentation Technician position is to provide highly skilled technical work involving electronic, electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic controls of typical state‑of‑the‑art hospital facilities systems and equipment. Impacts the installation, maintenance and repair of Institutional electronic, electrical, mechanical and pneumatic controls and equipment (primarily HVAC and facility monitoring/control systems).

• Read, draw and interpret electrical, pneumatic, mechanical and heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) schematics, one‑line diagrams and control sequences of operation.
• Program microprocessors for initial commissioning, tuning of control loops and calibration of analog inputs.
• Perform functions on live circuits and in operating controls enclosures. May install, troubleshoot and repair 120, 208, 240 and 480 volt controls and equipment per NEC guidelines.
• Investigate outages. May order materials and maintain inventory.
• Maintain and document work plans, cost estimates, and CMMS records.
• Participate in monthly BAS group meetings and work closely with BAS group to resolve issues.
• Support or perform additional work as necessary to manage workload.
• Attend energy optimization and other meetings pertaining to instrument technician and process control improvement.
• Participate in on‑call rotation if assigned and be available according to on‑call policy. Periods of alert for emergency conditions are not considered on‑call.
• Execute duties as essential personnel during suspension of normal operations due to inclement weather or other emergencies.

• Required:
  
  Four years electronic, building automated systems and pneumatic controls experience to include two years of electrical experience.
