Journeyman Electrician Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our panel shop team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience building, wiring, and troubleshooting industrial control panels, switch gear, and PLC-based systems. This role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to interpret complex electrical drawings, and a commitment to quality, safety, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings.
Build, wire, and assemble industrial control panels, MCCs, PLC panels, and switch gear assemblies.
Install and terminate wiring for PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, relays, breakers, motor starters, and control devices.
Perform point-to-point wiring and ensure accurate labeling and documentation.
Lay out panel components in accordance with drawings and UL requirements (if applicable).Conduct quality checks, continuity testing, and assist with power-up and functional testing.
Troubleshoot wiring issues and make necessary corrections efficiently.
Ensure compliance with NEC, UL 508A (if applicable), and company standards.
Mentor and assist apprentice and junior wiremen as needed.
Maintain a safe and organized work environment in accordance with company safety policies.
Qualifications Valid Journeyman Electrician license (required).5+ years of electrical experience, with strong panel shop experience preferred.
Proven experience with industrial control panels and PLC systems.
Strong understanding of electrical theory and control circuits.
Experience with switch gear and low- to medium-voltage systems preferred.
Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and blueprints.
Familiarity with UL panel standards and quality control processes.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Work Environment Indoor panel shop environment.
Overtime may be required to meet production schedules.
