The City of Mont Belvieu, Texas is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker I at the Public Works Department. The City of Mont Belvieu is a growing community located on IH-10 east of Houston, Texas in Chambers County.
POSITION SUMMARY:Under the general supervision of the Construction Supervisor and the Maintenance Crew leader, this position is responsible for assisting in installing water & sewer taps, installing water & sewer lines, repairing water leaks, assisting in unclogging stopped up sewer lines as well as the maintenance and repair of necessary equipment and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, small to heavy equipment, and city vehicles.
- Repairs water leaks involving main water lines, service lines, fire hydrants, water meters and valves.
- Install, repair and sometimes read water meters.
- Participate in removal and repair/replacement of sewer lift stations and other pumps and motors involved in water & wastewater operations.
- Yard maintenance and facility repairs.
- Performs valve exercising, dead-end main flushing and fire hydrant maintenance.
- Some “on‑call”, evening or weekend work will be required during urgent or emergency situations.
- Will work in inclement conditions and sometimes harsh environments.
- Assist with pouring and finishing concrete.
- During emergency conditions, all City employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
- Performs any and all other related duties or assignments as assigned.

REQUIREDEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Experience with pouring and finishing concrete will be a plus.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License, Class “B” preferred.
- Class C Water and Wastewater license issued by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or ability to obtain within a reasonable time.
An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions will be considered when hiring for this role.
