Position: Installation Technician (INIT)

INSTALLATION TECHNICIAN

TVM and Validator Installation Project – Houston Metro (Hiring Immediately - Project Start: February 9, 2026)

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Working with primary contractor INIT Transportation Solutions on Phase 2 of Houston Metro transit system upgrades. Project involves removal and replacement of Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs) and platform/stand-alone Validators at transit stations throughout Houston, TX.

Project Duration: February 9, 2026 through May 2026
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Location: Various Houston Metro transit stations

JOB DUTIES
  • Remove existing TVM and validator equipment and associated cabling
  • Install new TVM and validator units at platform locations
  • Run and route low voltage cables through stations and platforms
  • Terminate low voltage electrical wiring to 12V and 24V power sources
  • Mount equipment and secure components to station infrastructure
  • Strip, prepare, and crimp electrical terminals onto wiring
  • Terminate wires to breakers, terminal blocks, and grounding points
  • Test and verify system functionality and proper power-up
  • Secure and dress all wiring per project specifications
  • Assist with troubleshooting as needed
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous electronics/electromechanical/construction/trades experience
  • Low voltage electrical background preferred
  • Experience with electronic components and electrical connectors
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools
  • Experience running cables and making electrical terminations
  • Ability to work standing, bending, crouching for extended periods
  • Ability to follow directions and complete tasks efficiently
  • Must commit to entire project duration (Feb - May 2026)
  • Must be reliable with daily attendance and punctuality
  • Must provide own tools (see required list below)

  • Drill with 2 batteries and charger
  • Flush cutters
  • Wire strippers
  • Crimper
  • Phillips and flathead screwdrivers (or multi-screwdriver)
  • Headlamp
  • Standard socket set (up to 9/16")
  • Standard wrench set (up to 9/16")
  • Precision screwdriver set
  • Standard Allen wrench set
  • Utility knife
  • Tool bag
REQUIRED PPE
  • Safety glasses
  • Work gloves
  • Hard hat
  • Composite toe work boots
