Overview
Patient Care and Prevention Facilities (PC&PF) is fundamental to the daily operations of MD Anderson Cancer Center. This department ensures all facilities are safe, operational, and compliant with accreditation standards. PC&PF oversees construction of new facilities and modernization of existing buildings through new software and monitoring initiatives, contributing to world‑class cancer care.
The ideal candidate holds a valid Journeyman Electrical License and brings hands‑on expertise in electrical systems and maintenance. They are flexible and willing to work across all Houston‑area locations, including League City, West Houston, The Woodlands, Northwest Houston, and other locations as needed.
The work schedule is Tuesday – Friday, 3pm–1am. The work location is based in the Texas Medical Center but will travel to Houston area locations as needed.
The salary range is $57,500 – $86,500.

The primary purpose of the Electrician position is to provide skilled electrical work at the journeyman level in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, fixtures, and equipment. This role impacts the Institution's electrical functionality and equipment. Responsibilities include interpreting instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams; estimating costs; ordering materials; maintaining inventory; coordinating workflows; investigating outages; and ensuring proper function of electrical systems.
Responsibilities- Maintain and repair normal and emergency power electrical systems.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and stock forms to acquire parts and materials for installation or repair.
- Perform preventive maintenance of electrical panels, transformers, and other systems.
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical equipment.
- Provide back‑up support for other crafts as needed.
- Participate in walk‑through inspections of construction projects and create punch lists for discrepancies.
- Maintain critical alarm systems and respond to all critical equipment alarms.
- Interpret and work from instructions, blueprints, sketches, and diagrams for installation.
- May coordinate workflow of technicians and mechanics; investigate outages.
- Respond to customer calls and provide services.
- Document corrective actions, labor hours, and materials used on work orders; communicate issues to supervision.
- Provide emergency responses for facilities including code red alarms.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Required – High School Diploma or Equivalent;
Preferred – Completion of a recognized apprenticeship. - Work Experience:
Required – One year post‑journeyman experience in commercial/industrial electrical work involving interior and exterior wiring and repair of electrical equipment and systems. - Licenses &
Certifications:
Required – Journeyman Electrician (Texas);
Master Electrician (Texas). Preferred – Texas Driver’s License (Class A, B or
C) and eligibility to drive state/institution vehicles.
Location:
Onsite at MD Anderson with travel to Houston area locations as needed. Work Week:
Evening/Night.
