Overview

Torque by Ryder is hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mobile Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities
  • Decision making:
    Responsible for making decisions surrounding vehicle diagnostics and repair.
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties including standard vehicle maintenance, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs with minimal support.
  • Access and use internal and external maintenance documents; diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electronic problems with minimal support using diagnostic computers/software when applicable.
  • Perform remote triage with RCRC and customers to determine best solution for roadside breakdowns.
  • Perform facility maintenance duties; interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of the complaint; advise other technicians regarding maintenance repair procedures and diagnostics.
  • Coordinate work schedules with customers; road test vehicles to identify causes of complaints; ensure quality of repair work and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and vehicle repairs across various systems as listed in the detailed responsibilities, including A/C, brakes (air and hydraulic), electrical systems, cooling, fuel, driveline, steering, tires, and more, and complete the OEM on-line diagnostic tool software courses as required by location fleet mix.
  • Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation; ensure compliance with safety, DOT, and corporate guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and maintain required service, safety, and environmental records to meet corporate and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Vocational or technical certification, post-secondary degree, or other technical certifications preferred.
  • Basic tools required.
  • Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventive maintenance, diagnostics and repairs, and advanced repairs as applicable.
  • Four (4) years or more relevant work experience preferred.
  • Valid or preferred licenses:
    Non-Commercial Driver License CLASS E, and/or Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A; other state licenses as required.
  • Ability to drive Ryder vehicles and take home assigned mobile service truck where applicable.
  • Ability to understand and adhere to company policies; create and maintain professional relationships; work independently and as part of a team; prioritize workload.
  • Strong customer service, communication (verbal and written), and account management skills; flexible and self-driven in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have minimum tools required to perform job duties per Ryder's policy 2.02.
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance and mechanical/diesel diagnostics; familiarity with OEM diagnostic tools; ability to multi-task and manage time effectively.
