The Field Specialist is a hands‑on technical role responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of Salamander’s downhole heater cables. The position places strong emphasis on the execution of high‑reliability downhole electrical splices, wellhead feed‑thru (penetrator) systems, surface connectors, and other applicable cable interfaces used across Salamander installations.
This position requires regular field presence and frequent travel to domestic and international job sites. Total travel may be up to but not limited to 60%, depending on project demands, and may vary over time.
Field assignments may require extended working hours to support critical operations and meet project schedules when required.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform and supervise downhole and wellhead electrical connections, including high‑reliability splices involving heater and ESP cables, wellhead feed‑thru (penetrator) systems, and surface connectors.
- Execute cable terminations and transitions at the wellhead and surface, ensuring electrical and mechanical integrity.
- Supervise installation activities related to heater cables and control lines, including coordination with rig personnel and third‑party contractors.
- Support and oversee spooling operations for heater cables and control lines, using either Salamander equipment or third‑party spooling services.
- Perform and supervise the installation of tubing clamps used to secure heater cables and control lines to production tubing.
- Perform electrical testing such as insulation resistance and loop resistance to confirm system integrity.
- Support system commissioning and startup activities, including basic interaction with control panels and surface equipment.
- Complete daily operations reports, field tickets, and post‑job reports.
- Contribute to field procedures, work instructions, and risk assessments as needed to support safe and repeatable execution.
- Execute field installations and support operations at both domestic and international job sites, requiring the ability to work in diverse regulatory, cultural, and operational environments.
Technical degree, trade background, or equivalent field experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- 3–5 years of hands‑on field experience in electrical or electromechanical downhole wellsite installations.
- Background in artificial lift, smart completions, reservoir monitoring, or related oilfield services.
- Demonstrated experience with cable terminations, wellhead penetrators, and surface electrical installations.
- Proficiency in electrical testing (Insulation resistance, loop resistance).
- Ability to follow OEM manuals and detailed technical procedures with discipline and accuracy.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.
- Experience working in remote or logistically complex environments.
