Job Summary
The Instrument Technician plays a key role in performing inspection and repairs on control valves, level transmitters, flow meters, and pressure transmitters. This role is also responsible for performing preventive maintenance on all types of process instrumentation, i.e. analyzers, pressure switches, level switches, flow switches, gas detectors, PH meters, and conductivity meters. The ideal candidate will be able to perform troubleshooting tasks to diagnose and correct instrumentation problems in the field.
Job Duties and Responsibilities- Perform inspection and repairs on control valves, level transmitters, flow meters, and pressure transmitters.
- Perform preventive maintenance on all types of process instrumentation, i.e. analyzers, pressure switches, level switches, flow switches, gas detectors, PH meters, and conductivity meters.
- Perform troubleshooting tasks to diagnose and correct instrumentation problems in the field.
- Capable of reading and understanding P&’s, PFD’s, and perform maintenance tasks using instrument loop sheets.
- Responsible for emergency call-out and rotating weekly on-call duty.
- Maintain and promote a safe work environment at all times and follow Safe Work Practices established by TPC Group.
- Maintain electronic and paper documentation for Preventive Maintenance, Mechanical Integrity tasks, and regulatory required calibrations.
- Use all types of testing equipment such as signal generators, multi-meters, thermocouple simulators, Honeywell testing devices, Yamateck communicators, and 475/375 Hart communicators.
- Repair Fisher control valves and positioners such as the A Body, E Body, Butterfly, Ball, quarter turn, 546 I/P, 3582/3610J positioners and DVCs.
- Repair Fisher level trolls with 2500 series pneumatic heads.
- Associate’s Degree in Instrumentation AND 2 years’ experience OR a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the maintenance of petrochemical/refining instrumentation/analytical equipment.
- Knowledge and experience with troubleshooting and repair of instrumentation/analytical equipment.
- Experience should not be primarily electrical.
- Computer skills (Microsoft Office).
- Good communication skills, written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently or within a group.
