Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe Master Electrician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of airport electrical systems, including but not limited to:
Medium- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems
Switchgear, transformers, panels, and circuit breakers
Emergency power systems, including generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), and UPS systems
Interior and exterior lighting systems, including airfield support areas, terminals, parking garages, and site lighting
Fire alarm interfaces and life-safety systems (electrical scope only)
Additional responsibilities include:
Serving as the on-site electrical subject matter expert, providing leadership, technical guidance, and mentoring to electricians and building technicians
Performing advanced electrical diagnostics and repairs with minimal supervision
Coordinating, monitoring, and overseeing electrical work performed by contractors and vendors
Ensuring all electrical work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC), applicable local and state codes, and airport regulations
Supporting preventive maintenance programs and recommending system upgrades or improvements
Reading and interpreting electrical drawings, schematics, and blueprints
Responding to emergencies, power outages, and after-hours service calls as required
Maintaining accurate service documentation, reports, and compliance records
Participating in safety meetings and enforcing lockout/tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety procedures
Collaborating with facilities, operations, and airport stakeholders to minimize service disruptions
Active Master Electrician License (State of Texas or recognized reciprocal license)
Minimum of 5 years of commercial or industrial electrical experience, preferably within critical facilities such as:
Airports
Hospitals
Data centers
Strong working knowledge of:
NEC and electrical safety standards
Emergency power and life-safety systems
Electrical distribution systems and controls
Proven ability to work independently while leading and supporting a team
Proficiency with CMMS platforms, service documentation, and basic computer applications
Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
Previous experience in an airport or aviation environment
Experience supporting 24/7, mission-critical operations
Familiarity with TSA, FAA, and airport badging requirements
Experience coordinating with inspectors, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and airport authorities
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work from ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions
Willingness to work overtime, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed
Must successfully pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and TSA airport badging requirements
Valid driver's license required
