Certified BICSI Installer Job Description
Responsibilities- Perform installation of low voltage category cabling, such as CAT6, CAT6 a, CAT8, fiber optic, and distributed antenna systems.
- Read building prints and pull cable throughout commercial building infrastructure.
- Install wireless access points, 110/66 block patch panels, wall face plates, keystone jacks, and RJ45 connectors.
- Install support structures such as J‑Hooks, Cable Trey, ladder racks, and other equipment used to install communication cabling.
- Perform installations including dressing and routing of cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture, and other work area outlets.
- Utilize various types of testing equipment from 4‑Pair Tester, Toner‑probe set, OTDR, and Fluke DTX for validation purposes.
- Perform work on ladders, scissor lifts, bucket trucks, and various types of elevated platforms.
- Use hand tools/Power Tools to complete assigned tasks and duties daily.
- Ensuring compliance with EIA/TIA and BICSI standards.
- Lead small crews and mentor junior technicians as needed.
- Expose to meeting/coordinating with general contractors, vendors, and customers.
- BICSI Installer Certification (Level I, II, or Technician preferred).
- 3 years of experience in voice/data structured cabling installation.
- OSHA 10/30 Certification is a plus.
- Experience with fiber optic terminations (fusion splicing is a plus).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow industry best practices.
- Valid Driver's License and own transportation.
- Pass a pre‑employment drug screen.
- Work a flexible schedule.
- All hand/power tools (required).
