A Technician is involved with the installation, programming, testing, field service, and training of Engineered Fire Alarm Systems.
Responsibilities- Review job information on new jobs.
- Confirm scope of work and relay changes to the Project Manager.
- Review location of critical equipment (control panels, annunciators, etc.).
- Obtain and read the specifications thoroughly.
- Confirm safety requirements and documentation required by contractor.
- Determine and maintain project scheduling, daily check‑in with contractor on‑site.
- Plan ahead, estimate and request materials for installation a week in advance.
- Coordinate with PM and job‑site contractor for safe storage of equipment.
- Supervise and install system in a quality manner, maintain as‑built drawings.
- Perform programming, 100% pre‑test, and final test with AHJ and/or customer.
- Certify system as required by the State of Texas and local AHJ.
- Assist PM with tracking labor and equipment costs, returned equipment credit, and log bad equipment per job.
- Keep jobsite tools and equipment secure; maintain accurate tool list.
- Maintain a clean vehicle at all times and coordinate monthly truck audits.
- Maintain good relationships with contractors and customers, bring job under budget, and look for ways to improve efficacy and profit margin.
- Working knowledge of general industrial controls.
- Knowledge of industry manufacturers, distributors, and products.
- Proficient in computer programs:
Windows & Microsoft. - Excellent organization skills.
- Proficient in NFPA 72, 101, building codes, and other applicable industry codes.
- State of Texas Fire Alarm Technician’s License.
- State of Texas Class A Extinguisher License.
- Fire Alarm License.
- FEL‑A License.
- Valid driver’s license with outstanding driving record.
- Ability to pass a background and drug screening.
