Our Houston terminal is a key hub in our national network, and we are seeking a dependable and proactive Crane Mechanic to join our team.

Position Summary: As a Crane Mechanic
, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing cranes and diesel-powered equipment at our Port of Operations facility. This position requires hands‑on mechanical expertise, a strong safety mindset, and the ability to support daily operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on diesel‑powered cranes and heavy equipment.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues in crane systems and execute timely repairs.
  • Conduct inspections to ensure cranes meet safety and operational standards.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely to support maintenance tasks.
  • Utilize handheld barcode scanners for parts tracking and inventory control.
  • Follow overhead crane safety protocols, including proper signaling and rigging procedures.
  • Use steel handling tools such as clamps, chains, and rigging gear during maintenance and lifting operations.
  • Maintain detailed service logs, inspection reports, and maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime and ensure workflow continuity.
Skills & Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 2–4 years of hands‑on experience in crane maintenance, diesel mechanics, or heavy equipment repair.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, pneumatic, and diesel systems.
  • Familiarity with crane safety protocols, load charts, and rigging practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel for maintenance tracking and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast‑paced industrial environment.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Safety‑conscious with strong attention to detail.
  • Initiative‑driven and capable of stepping into leadership roles when needed.
Preferred Certifications
  • Forklift Certification (OSHA‑compliant). Example: OSHA Forklift Operator Safety Training Certificate or equivalent.
  • Overhead Crane Operation Certification (preferred). Example: NCCCO Overhead Crane Operator Certification or equivalent in‑house certification.
  • Diesel Mechanic Certification (ASE or equivalent preferred). Example: ASE Medium‑Heavy Truck Technician Certification – T2.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal training or certification in diesel mechanics.
  • Hands‑on experience with diesel‑powered crane systems, including Sennebogen Cranes, Liebherr Cranes, Cummins Engines, Detroit Diesel Engines.
  • Proficiency in basic diesel engine diagnostics and repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with electrical components and winch systems.
  • Certification in Diesel Engine Repair (e.g., ASE Medium‑Heavy Truck Technician – T2).
  • NCCCO Certification (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) or equivalent.
  • Rigging and Signal Person Certification (NCCCO or equivalent preferred).
  • OSHA 10 or 30‑Hour General Industry Safety Certification.
  • Training or certification in hydraulic systems (preferred for crane maintenance roles).
