Diesel Technician II

As a Diesel Technician II, you will perform basic to mid‑range diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, and most repairs and replacements.

Responsibilities- Performs basic to mid‑range diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Performs basic to advanced welding
- Performs most repairs, preventative maintenance, and replacements in assigned classification
- Usually works alone on repair orders
- Performs some training
- Performs preventative and predictive repair maintenance as assigned
- Assists in advanced welding, brake repair / overhaul, steering / alignment; repairs / adjusts clutches
- Troubleshoots / repairs electrical systems, engine operations, transmission / differential operations, air conditioning operation, cooling systems, exhaust systems, fuel systems, and basic diagnostics
- Performs state inspections
- Performs Diesel Tech I duties
- 4‑day work week
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience as a mechanic
- High skill level of welding (preferred)
- Current Texas CDL
- DOT certified
- Air conditioning certified
- Strong working knowledge of all safety requirements for shop equipment and machinery, including electrical devices
- Familiarity with 2010 and newer emissions
- Computer skills
- Ability to perform intermediate repairs
- Ability to read schematic diagrams
- Ability to diagnose / repair electrical shorts, air brake systems, cooling systems, and some engine problems
- Work in a team environment
- Lift 100 lb and carry a distance of 5 ft
- Work sitting, standing, stooping, bending, and in a prone position
- Work with hands over head
- Climb; work from a ladder
- Complete TMT training
- Meet H‑E‑B driving qualifications
- Possess / maintain Tech II‑level tools
- Obtain diesel engine overhead certification
- Obtain / maintain OEM certification in brakes, suspension, electrical, welding, TIA, and drive train
