Senior Public Safety Officer - Security

As a Senior Public Safety Officer, you will play a vital role in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff. This position provides leadership within the Public Safety team, ensuring security across the healthcare campus while supporting MD Anderson's mission of care, healing, and discovery.

MD Anderson offers a competitive hourly rate of $19.23 to $25.00, based on a 40‑hour work week. The typical work schedule includes rotating shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays). The work location is Houston, Texas.

• Mentor, train, and evaluate Public Safety Officers.
• Provide guidance and support for team development and performance.

• Patrol property by vehicle and on foot to maintain a safe environment.
• Manage door screenings, access control, and lock/unlock procedures.
• Operate and monitor security technology systems and report issues.

• Handle morgue duty, package and animal deliveries, and parking/traffic control.
• Assist motorists, provide escort services, and relieve dispatchers when needed.
• Prepare accurate incident and departmental reports.

• Respond to calls and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Ensure compliance with institutional safety protocols.

• Required:
  
  High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred:
  Associate's Degree.

• Required:
  
  Minimum 2 years as a Public Safety Officer or related experience.

• Required:
  
  Valid Class A, B, or C Texas driver's license.
• Preferred:
  International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification.

• Required:
  
  Must pass pre‑employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
