** This position is located at the Sugarland Campus in Sugarland, TX. **

Under general supervision, leads work of assigned security officers and performs regular security officer duties for assigned areas. Pursuant to the State of Texas Executive Order No. GA-48, this position researches, works on, or has access to critical infrastructure and requires the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the University infrastructure. This position requires personnel be routinely reviewed to determine whether or not criminal history or continuous connections for the government or political apparatus of a foreign adversary might prevent the employee from being able to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure.

Responsibilities
  • Performs security officer duties and leads work of assigned security officers.
  • Patrols assigned areas to check for criminal activity, rule violations, and irregularities.
  • Investigates and reports hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to campus police unit as needed.
  • Coordinates and monitors work activities of field Security Officers at particular locations.
  • Monitors shift activity and makes recommendations for adjustments in shift assignments as needed.
  • Trains new security officers or other personnel and provides on-going work leadership.
  • Performs other job-related duties assigned.
  • MQ:
    Requires a basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc. as might normally be acquired through attainment of a high school diploma or GED.

    Requires a minimum of three (3) years directly job related experience.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of three (3) years directly job related experience.
    • Valid Texas Driver’s License.
    • Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and simple mathematical functions like percentages, ratios, etc.
    • Daily computer use required; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
    • Pass a Criminal History Check and valid TX Driver’s License check prior to an interview.
    • Pass Background Investigation prior to employment.
    • Pass a pre-employment drug screening.
    • Complete criminal history fields on application; incomplete fields will not be considered.

    Required information includes:

    • DOB
    • Driver’s license
    • Last 4 digits of SSN

      • Primary functions require sufficient physical ability to work in a law enforcement setting and an office setting; restrain or subdue individuals; walk, stand, sit, or run for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; occasionally climb and balance; ability to operate and use specialized law enforcement tools and equipment.
