POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Intern at LJA Environmental
, you will be responsible for conducting fieldwork to collect water samples from homeowners and community water systems, prepare sampling kits, and gather GIS/GPS data while ensuring proper quality control procedures are followed. They will also assist with data entry, maintain accurate documentation, support other environmental field projects, and gain familiarity with relevant drinking water regulations.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE
  • Schedule and conduct fieldwork in remote locations, traveling with potential overnight lodging
  • Interact with individual homeowners on a frequent basis to collect water samples from community water systems.
  • Preparation of sampling and water kits prior to sampling events
  • Assist with data entry from water sampling events into the LJA company tracking system.
  • Collect GIS and GPS data
  • Accurately conduct quality assurance and quality control checks on sampling paperwork
  • Conduct frequent day travel in company vehicles to sampling locations within the greater Houston/Dallas/San Antonio area.
  • Assist with other outdoor fieldwork on other natural resources projects, such as wetland delineations or environmental assessments.
  • Familiarize and understand relevant drinking water regulations
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of a high school diploma and must be currently enrolled in a community college or University in an environmental‑related field.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Applicant must be able to lift/carry up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Applicant must be able to work evenings and potentially weekends depending on project needs.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and be comfortable interacting with homeowners.
  • Applicant must be able to travel to locations, hike and conduct fieldwork for long hours, potentially in inclement weather.
  • Applicant must possess a valid Texas Driver’s license and a clear motor vehicle record.
  • Desired applicant will be organized with a keen attention to detail and be capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
