Overview
The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, Department of Lymphoma/Myeloma, is recruiting for a clinical research faculty member with sub-specialty of Multiple Myeloma. Physicians who have extensive research experience in clinical investigation and outcomes research with particular focus in plasma cell dyscrasias such as Amyloidosis, Waldenström’s, MGUS (in particular stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies in high-risk Multiple Myeloma) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Faculty rank and space will be provided consistent with experience. The successful candidate will have actively engaged in research in cancer biology, with potential relevance to biology of hematologic malignancies and scholarly activity to enhance the academic environment of the department. The candidate will have protected time to lead and develop programs, translational clinical research and scholarly activities in keeping with the department goals.
The selected candidate will seek appropriate funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research, assist with mentoring young faculty, fellows, and other trainees, and contribute to the overall mission of the department. There are multiple opportunities for collaboration with other clinicians, scientists and physician-scientists within the institution.
- Lead and develop translational clinical research programs in the department.
- Engage in scholarly activity and collaboration with clinicians, scientists, and physician-scientists.
- Mentor young faculty, fellows, and other trainees.
- Pursue external funding mechanisms to support translational and clinical research.
- Collaborate across the institution to advance departmental goals.
- M.D., or M.D. and Ph.D. degrees; M.D. holders should have demonstrated ability to practice Oncology, particularly.
- Candidate is ABMS board eligible/certified in primary specialty and eligible for sub-specialty certification and Texas license.
- At least 5 years of post-degree experience in clinician, clinical scientist, or GME settings (excluding shorter residencies/fellowships).
- Evidence of commitment to scholarly activity and proof of scientific accomplishments.
- Excellent writing and communication skills evidenced by peer‑reviewed publications, conference presentations, and ability to obtain extramural funding for translational research.
The salary range is $300,000–$392,069 and will be based on the applicant's qualifications and experience.
