Location: Anywhere in Canada (Flexible locations) Requirement to travel and work on-site in BC and or Alberta.

Salary: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour (commensurate with experience).

Position Summary

The Supervising Archaeologist supports permit holders and Field Directors by leading crews in the field, completing pedestrian traverses and conducting subsurface testing as necessary, while taking effective notes and recording all project areas. The successful candidate must be able to travel/work on-site in British Columbia and or Alberta in season and have excellent knowledge of the relevant Heritage legislation and can provide leadership in the field.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and conducting fieldwork includes travel, hiking and subsurface testing.
  • Report writing, data management, cataloguing and analysis 20% of the time.
  • Data management (includes paperwork/notes) 5% of the time.
  • Leading by example (fieldwork, problem solving, logistics) 20% of the time.
  • Equipment maintenance 5%.
  • Conduct work activities in accordance with sound health and safety practices set out by the Company safety program and applicable legislation and promote these practices with co-workers.
  • Completing fieldwork with minimal safety incidents.
  • Completing fieldwork with no further concerns for archaeology.
  • Completion of interim reports with minimal edits/versions.
  • Clear site sketch maps (minimal back and forth with GIS Specialist + PM).
  • Following company policy and procedures and all relevant Heritage and safety regulations.
  • Strong leadership by example as evidenced by high fives
