Texas Monthly has an immediate opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Account Executive in the Houston area who will play a key role in driving revenue growth by identifying, pitching, and closing advertising and branded content deals across Texas Monthly’s multimedia platforms — including digital
, CTV
, branded content
, social media
, podcasts
, and broadcast TV.
This is a client-facing, high-impact role ideal for a self-starter who understands the evolving media landscape and knows how to craft integrated campaigns that deliver results.
Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Selling and executing integrated advertising campaigns across Texas Monthly platforms, including:
- Digital display and video
- Connected TV (CTV) and over-the-top TV (OTT)
- Branded content (custom editorial, native, and multimedia)
- Social media activations
- Podcast sponsor ships (pre-roll, mid-roll, and custom integrations)
- Broadcast TV
- Managing a dynamic sales pipeline: prospecting, engaging, scheduling meetings, and delivering tailored media proposals
- Partnering cross-functionally with content, marketing, ad operations, and production teams to ensure seamless campaign execution
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with agencies, brands, and media buyers to foster long-term partnerships
- Consistently meeting or exceeding quarterly and annual sales targets
- Staying ahead of media industry trends, competitive offerings, and emerging technologies to uncover new revenue opportunities
Successful candidates will possess the following skills/abilities:
- 3 or more years of media sales experience, ideally across digital platforms, CTV, podcasting, branded content, and traditional media (TV/Radio)
- Demonstrated success in consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Deep understanding of media buying cycles, digital marketing principles, and integrated campaign strategies
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills with a consultative sales approach
- Highly organized and self-driven, with the ability to thrive both independently and within cross-functional teams
- Proficient in CRM platforms such as Salesforce or Hub Spot for managing sales pipelines, forecasting, and reporting
- Passion for storytelling, creativity, and the Texas Monthly brand
Preferred Qualifications:
- Existing relationships with agencies or brands in Texas and/or nationally
- Background in selling to lifestyle, financial, travel, or automotive
- Experience selling custom content or working with editorial teams
