Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager are responsible for creating an enjoyable shopping experience for guests and supporting store operations, sales, merchandising and team management in Willowbrook Mall, Houston, TX.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver legendary service and execute sales activities, including register procedures, cash handling, and merchandise display.
- Build strong guest relationships, recommend and locate merchandise, and support the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
- Meet or exceed store sales goals for average sales per hour, net sales and business builders.
- Recruit, coach and develop teammates, use team tools, and maintain a positive floor culture.
- Lead daily operations: open/close checklists, loss prevention, POS procedures and inventory management.
- Maintain visual standards and communicate merchandising opportunities to the store manager.
- Support leadership projects and drive continuous improvement within the store.
Recruiting, Training and Development
- Identify recruiting opportunities through active sourcing and employee referral programs.
- Coach new teammates on sales, presentation and product knowledge; maintain their schedule and performance trackers.
- Deliver training on elements of loss prevention, returns, merchandise handling and corporate policies.
- Partner with the store manager to align the team’s development with store and corporate goals.
Operations
- Work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends and holidays.
- Execute opening and closing checklists, maintain cleanliness, and implement loss prevention practices.
- Handle POS procedures and corporate communications; accurately process payments, returns and exchanges.
- Assist new hires with paperwork and training; meet all HR and legal compliance requirements.
Supervisory and Leadership
- Support the store manager in supervising daily operations and coaching teammates.
- Deliver consistent leadership performance, feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Participate in special projects, cross‑store coverage and continuous improvement initiatives.

Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required. One to three months of related retail experience or equivalent education and experience accepted.
Physical Demands
- Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs, use hands and arms, climb or balance, and bend, stoop, kneel or crawl as needed.
