Position

Summary

Responsible for sorting through soft line donations, separating sellable items from outlet products, and ensuring these items are appropriately hung on hangers and by department and category. Price basic clothing items using default pricing standards and name‑brand clothing items according to GWH Guidelines. Responsible for processing these soft line donations from the backroom, ensuring merchandise is ready to be moved to the sales floor.

Perform assigned duties within the framework of GWH’s Mission and all policies and procedures. Ensure the efficient and cost‑effective operation and stewardship of GWH donations to maximize profitability and enhance our Mission.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Sort soft goods (clothing, linens, etc.) according to GWH guidelines to maximize production.
  • Price merchandise using the current GWH baseline pricing guidelines.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, merchandising, and competitive pricing.
  • Carefully inspect all items to ensure they meet GWH quality standards.
  • Hang all approved sorted goods on appropriate hangers.
  • Arrange hung goods in size order by department.
  • Work quickly to meet GWH production standards.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Greet each customer and assist with basic questions about store operations and merchandise.
  • Maintain production supplies.
  • Assist with loading and unloading merchandise.
  • Receive and record donations.
  • Assist with sorting donations according to GWH guidelines.
  • Ensure the safety of GWH associates and property.
  • Assist in floor recovery.
  • Perform necessary janitorial work.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Management.

  • Maintain good housekeeping standards, keep aisles and pathways to fire exits clear, and keep work areas neat and clean.
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Retail sales experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate and interact well with a variety of personality types.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Reliable transportation.

  • Attendance: work schedule as assigned, notify leadership as needed, no recurring issues.
  • Image: personal image, keep work area/location clean, safe, and organized with no donor creep.
Physical Requirements / Work Environment

The job requires continuous standing/walking for the duration of a shift, frequent push/pull, occasional bend/stoop/crawl/kneel/reach above shoulders, and ladder climbing. Able to lift up to 40 lbs. (fixture parts, cartons of product). Work is indoors with occasional exposure to outside temperatures. Noise level in the normal work environment is usually moderate.
