Senior Food Service Worker - Dining Services

The Sr. Food Service Worker in the Dining Services team at MD Anderson Cancer Center in the Texas Medical Center will provide a variety of basic food service tasks including cleaning, sanitation, food preparation, food set up and food service.

Schedule: Rotating shift, including weekends and holidays

• Portion Control:
  Provide consistent and good quality service to cafe customers by adhering to the established portion sizes for each food item and following written recipes. Portion, measure or weigh ingredients and products according to the recipe or diagram and prepare food in a timely manner. Ensure all food items served in the Deli and Grill areas are 100% correct.

• Customer Service:
  Visually monitor daily zone area activities to ensure prompt and courteous service to all customers. Maintain a good work rapport with other department personnel. Promote/provide good guest relation skills by following the written established cafe guidelines. Attend meetings in food service-related activities to increase competency and knowledge. Train and direct the work of food service workers assigned to the unit.

• Inventory Management, Sanitation and Safety:
  Ensure assigned area is stocked with all food, china, and paper/plastic supplies. Participate in inventory control, cost containment, and storage of supplies. Receive food deliveries and properly store items. Review and fill in unit orders informing the supervisor of any unusual quantities ordered. Submit to the Assistant Manager a written list of items needed from the production and storeroom areas.
  
  Monitor the stock of all open and unused food items. Adhere to proper food storage procedures. Ensure zones and stations are properly prepared in a neat and orderly manner. Safely operate food equipment. Deliver food at the proper temperatures to the designated areas. Clean and sanitize equipment and work area, utensils and equipment. Maintain a safe and sanitary working area.

• Follow the highest standards of food safety, sanitation, and compliance with regulatory guidelines.

• Work collaboratively with a dedicated culinary and nutrition team to make a real difference in patient experience.

• Two years of food service experience in food service, hospitality, building services, or industry.

• A positive attitude, strong time management skills, and commitment to teamwork.

• Texas Food Handlers Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).

Required: Two years of food service experience in food service, hospitality, building services, or industry.

Required: Must obtain a current Texas Food Handlers Certification within 30 days of entry into job.

Maximum Salary: 52,000 USD;
Midpoint Salary: 46,000 USD. FLSA: non-exempt and eligible for overtime pay.
