Summary The Department of Neurosurgery at Baylor College of Medicine, in partnership with Texas Children’s Hospital, is seeking a Research Coordinator I. This role involves managing day-to-day study activities, including participant screening, enrollment, monitoring, data management, and coordinating study visits. The initial appointment is one year, with potential renewal based on funding and performance. The coordinator will support research projects investigating speech perception and production in the brain.
PatientRecruitment, Data Collection & Follow-Up (40%)
- Interview, screen, and recruit patients for research studies; explain study purpose, processes, and procedures.
- Conduct participant follow-up and correspondence throughout the study.
- Run experiments and collect human neurophysiology data, including recordings in the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) at Texas Children’s Hospital.
- Process documents and enter data into research databases.
- Curate and manage data for transfer to collaborators at The University of Texas at Austin.
- Maintain research records, regulatory documents, and study files.
- Manage IRB documentation and ensure compliance with study protocols.
- Order and maintain lab supplies and equipment.
- Support general lab operations and administrative functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Three years of relevant experience.
- Bachelors in neuroscience or cognitive science, engineering, or related fields. No experience required with preferred degree.
- Prior research experience in neuroscience, physiology, psychology, or related areas.
- Strong technical skills.
- Must be strongly detail-oriented and organized.
- Knowledge of data collection for electrophysiology (scalp EEG or intracranial EEG preferred, but other electrophysiology experience also appreciated).
- Pediatric experience.
- Music or sound engineering experience.
- Programming experience (python, MATLAB, or swift).
