Summary
The primary goal of this position is noninvasive profiling of inflammatory biomarkers in rodent models of Parkinson's disease with MRI. The ideal candidate will hold a doctoral degree in neuroscience, biology, molecular biology, or biochemistry and demonstrated experience in biological assays, cell cultures, mouse brain tissue perfusion and fixation for immunohistochemical analysis, mouse colony management, western blotting techniques, PCR techniques, flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and technical writing.

Hands‑on experience with imaging flow cytometry, brain tissue homogenization, homogenate analysis protocols, cell separation and lysing methods are a plus.

Job Duties

Responsibilities will include:

  • Defining problems and possible solutions as dictated by assigned research projects
  • Establishing procedures to be applied in the projects
  • Designing, developing, or adapting equipment used in experiments
  • Performing cell culture studies, animal injections and brain tissue perfusion and fixation for immunohistochemical analysis, and confocal microscopy imaging
  • Performing western blot and PCR analyses
  • Writing and submitting project results for publications and presentations at national and international scientific meetings.
Minimum Qualifications

Skills required for satisfactory performance in this job include:

  • Protein purification, Confocal Microscopy
  • Imaris analysis software techniques
  • UV-Visible Spectroscopy techniques
  • 96‑Well Plate Readers
  • Flow Cytometry
  • Cell Culture
  • Cell Assays
  • Cell Lysing methods
  • Mouse Injections
  • Brain Tissue Manipulation Protocols, and Technical writing.

In addition, the candidate should have experience in Statistical Data Analysis, Operation of Standard Laboratory Equipment.

Performs responsible research work that requires planning, completing, and occasionally supervising limited research projects in accordance with general plans approved by the supervisor.

Build collaborative projects with other investigators in the Translational Imaging Group (TIGr) at TCH/BCM.
