Description:
Provides expertise in support of research projects in engineering, lookout, mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics and other disciplines. Prepares and edits research papers, proposals, and reports. Performs advanced testing procedures and analyses of data. May prepare samples for testing. Utilises a variety of specialised equipment typical to the area of specialization. May contribute to grant proposal development.
A researcher II position is available in a laboratory devoted to biochemical and molecular studies of the mammalian retina in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Houston.
The lab employs molecular, cellular, electrophysiological and biochemical approaches to investigate the mechanism of photoreceptor cell death and the application of gene therapy in mice expressing mutant forms of photoreceptor-specific genes that are equivalent to human variants. The researcher works under the directions of the principal investigators to perform experiments and provide data to the PIs.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s in biochemistry or cell biology with 3‑year experience. Prior experience in molecular biology is preferred.
Experience will be considered in lieu of education.
MQ:
Bachelor’s Degree with 3 years experience.
