Quality Engineer
Houston, TX (Local candidates preferred; relocation considered)
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join a rapidly growing automotive manufacturing organization. This position offers strong visibility, meaningful responsibility, and long-term career growth within an expanding Quality team.
This role is the first Quality Engineer on the team and was established to support daily quality execution, enhance operational discipline, and enable leadership to focus on strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting both new and existing customer requirements across multiple product lines.

Position Summary
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for driving product quality, supporting new product launches, and leading continuous improvement initiatives through strong cross‑functional collaboration with Operations, Manufacturing, and Leadership teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and lead the Quality Audit Program, including analysis of audit results and collaboration with department leadership to implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
- Support new product launches by defining, tracking, and owning quality metrics to ensure producibility, marketability, and adherence to launch timelines
- Manage internal quality KPIs and lead improvement activities to enhance overall performance
- Execute and analyze material qualification testing, escalating nonconformances in accordance with established procedures
- Support daily automotive quality activities, including customer communication, internal problem resolution, and quality assurance and control functions
- Apply structured problem‑solving methodologies (8D, A3, PDCA, DMAIC) to drive effective and sustainable solutions
- Utilize AIAG Core Tools, including APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Standardized Work
- Promote safety awareness, quality standards, and company values throughout manufacturing operations
- Maintain document control processes within the Quality Management System
- Provide leadership, direction, and training to Quality Auditors and associates
- Strengthen cross‑functional communication to ensure alignment between Quality and Manufacturing priorities
- Maintain reliable, consistent on‑site attendance to support production, audits, meetings, and launch activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline
- 5–7 years of Quality Engineering experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in high‑volume, high‑mix manufacturing environments
- Automotive industry experience: OEM or Tier 1 supplier experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated proficiency in:
- Structured problem‑solving methodologies (8D, A3, PDCA, DMAIC)
- APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans
- Lean Manufacturing and Toyota Production System principles
- Process control and mistake‑proofing
- Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills
- Valid in‑state driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience conducting internal audits to ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949 standards
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- AIAG Core Tools certification
- Lean Six Sigma or IASSC certification
- Advanced statistical analysis and Six Sigma experience
