OverviewElement has an opportunity for a Quality Specialist (with SHE Responsibilities) to join our growing team. This onsite role is responsible for supporting testing, calibration, auditing, statistical analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have a background in quality assurance within materials testing, combined with a proactive approach to workplace safety and compliance.
Salary: $60,000 - $75,000/year DOE
Responsibilities- Support proficiency testing and round robin testing programs to ensure measurement accuracy and consistency.
- Support the calibration program by performing in-house calibrations, coordinating external calibrations as needed, and maintaining accurate calibration and equipment records.
- Maintain and update the Approved Vendor Listing (AVL) database to ensure supplier compliance with quality requirements.
- Perform Statistical Process Control (SPC) activities, including data collection, analysis, and trend monitoring.
- Conduct Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (R&R) studies to evaluate measurement system capability.
- Support internal audits and customer audits, including preparation, execution, documentation, and follow-up of corrective actions.
- Lead cross-functional root cause and corrective action teams to resolve nonconformances, errors, and underperforming quality trends.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean, Kaizen, and 5S projects.
- Support the Safety Leader with assigned SHE (Safety, Health, and Environmental) responsibilities in alignment with company policies.
- Prepare, maintain, and analyze quality records, reports, and documentation as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
- Associate’s degree in a science or technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g., 8–10+ years in a quality or materials testing environment).
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a quality, inspection, or materials testing role in a regulated environment preferred.
- Experience interpreting and applying complex testing procedures, specifications, and requirements.
- Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Strong background in statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and measurement uncertainty.
- Advanced working knowledge of QMS and accreditation standards (ISO 9001, AS9100, ISO 17025).
- Experience working to aerospace OEM and industry requirements, including Boeing, GE, Rolls‑Royce, and NADCAP.
- Proficiency in basic algebra and geometry.
- Experience supporting audits and corrective action activities.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence across functions.
- Calm, organized, and professional under pressure.
- Work may involve exposure to machinery, noise, chemicals, calibration equipment, and test materials commonly found in an aerospace manufacturing or testing environment.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required in designated areas.
- The role may require standing, walking, bending, and lifting light materials or equipment up to 25 pounds as part of daily activities.
- Occasional off‑shift support, or schedule flexibility may be required to support audits, testing, or production needs.
- The position requires the ability to work in a fast‑paced, regulated environment while maintaining attention to detail, safety, and quality standards.
