Job Summary
The Quality Control Technician is responsible for conducting inspections and testing in accordance with quality documentation, code and other requirements, as well as assisting the Division Quality Manager with other QAQC tasks and activities.
Essential Functions- Has strong basic knowledge of inspection, testing and NDE in the oil and gas industry (refinery and/or fabrication); may include structural, piping, tanks, vessels, equipment
- May conduct NDE (non‑destructive examination) and testing and report results. Testing methods may include, but are not limited to, MT, PT, RT, PMI, FE. Other interpretations and/or activities may include PMI, hardness testing, Ferrite determination and weld radiography interpretation
- Inspection and testing activities to be carried out in compliance with procedure, code, standard and/or client specification
- May inspect finished product and authorize release
- Assist Divisional Quality Manager as needed/instructed
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies (including client’s) while promoting the Company’s safety culture.
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Industrial Radiographer Card for the state of Texas
- Level II Dital Radiographer
- State Driver’s License
- Level II RT
- Level II MT preferred
- Level II PT — Dye Penetrant inspection of welds
- 2 years’ experience, a minimum
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Excellent time‑management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Ability to work non‑routine hours, when necessary
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
