Veterinary Extern – General Practice
Location:
Wilcrest Animal Hospital, Houston, TX
Stipend:
Up to $2,000 available for students in the clinical phase.
Duration:
Minimum 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks (flexible based on student and hospital schedules).
Open to:
Veterinary students.
Practice Focus:
Small animal general medicine, surgery, dentistry, behavior.
Wilcrest Animal Hospital is a well‑established small animal practice located in vibrant Houston, TX. Our dedicated team of support staff and experienced veterinarians fosters a collaborative culture, strong mentorship, and a supportive, fun environment for patients and staff alike.
Externship Experience Includes- Taking patient histories and performing physical exams
- Developing diagnostic and treatment plans
- Assisting with (or performing) surgical and dental procedures
- Participating in internal medicine, wellness, and behavioral case workups
- Practicing communication skills with both clients and the veterinary team
Externs will work closely with our veterinarians and team members to gain valuable, real‑world experience in a supportive learning environment. You won’t just shadow—you’ll be actively engaged in day‑to‑day clinical work, with mentorship tailored to your interests and experience level
