Vet Technician - General Practice/Wellness

Texas Litter Control

Location will open 2/2/26. Hiring techs in January and training until the new location opens.

Description

Support GP Veterinarian providing vet exams, diagnostics, and prescriptions/refills. Provide excellent customer service to our clients and their pets.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Greet customers as they enter the clinic.
  • Answer phones as needed as backup to the call center staff.
  • Book appointments.
  • Print admission forms and answer questions about services and pricing.
  • Fill prescriptions.
  • Perform adoptions on cat/kittens in lobby.
  • Clean cat cages in lobby.
  • Keep lobby clean at all times.
  • Keep storage closet organized.
  • Draw blood, administer fluids, give injections of all types, look at specimens under microscope.
  • Monitor equipment and report problems to the Executive Director as they are detected.
  • Laundry.
  • Mopping.
  • Maintain proper stock of supplies in all areas of the clinic.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Customer Service Experience
Working Conditions
  • Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as required.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.
  • Moderate noise / animal kennel atmosphere.
Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk, hear and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, calculator and telephone.

  • The ability to move about to coordinate work within observation rooms.
  • The ability to stand for long periods of time and in excess of 5 hours. Frequent bending, stooping, and crouching.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation.
  • While performing the duties of this job, employees will frequently handle urine, vomit, and feces from cats & dogs. These can contain parasites contagious to humans. Employees are expected to wear proper protective clothing, gloves, and masks as needed.
