Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Ambulatory Treatment Center (ATC)

Position Summary

The Ambulatory Treatment Center (ATC) Clinical Nurse demonstrates competence and competencies regarding all aspects of administering and monitoring systemic cancer therapies and other injectable infusions for adult patients in the Ambulatory Treatment Center. This role provides evidence‑based direct patient care across the continuum to positively impact patient outcomes and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality care and appropriate use of resources.

Preferred Qualifications

Infusion experience, with chemotherapy infusion experience preferred. Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®) or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification are considered a plus.

Shift/Schedule

Monday‑Friday, 8‑hour and 10‑hour shifts available, to support hours of operation from 8:30 AM – 7:30 PM.

Location

Northwest Houston Area – includes travel to ATC West Houston, ATC Woodlands, and/or ATC Main based on institutional needs.

Salary

Minimum $68,000 – Midpoint $105,000 – Maximum $142,000.

Specialized Infusion

Experience:

Gain and apply advanced skills in administering a wide range of systemic cancer therapies—including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and clinical trial infusions—within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.

Key Functions
  • Administer infusions including standard of care and research chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy, blood products, IVIG, growth factors, antibiotics, electrolytes, and hydration.
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills; assess and educate patients and families/caregivers.
  • Develop collaborative, professional relationships with physicians and all members of the health care team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Specific Competencies
  • IV insertion and venous access device management
  • Accurate administration and monitoring of infusions via a variety of routes (oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous)
  • Performing an independent double‑check for chemotherapy administration
  • Safe handling and disposal of chemotherapy to minimize exposure
  • Continuous infusion pumps (connects and disconnects)
  • Management of treatment‑related side effects and adverse reactions
  • Minimizing infection risk among immunocompromised patients
  • Early detection of specific side effects for effective self‑management.
Education
  • Required:

    Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Preferred:
    Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

    Infusion experience as a Clinical Nurse
Licenses & Certifications
  • Required:

    RN – Registered Nurse – State Licensure (Texas) upon hire
  • Required:

    BLS (Basic Life Support) upon hire; CPR upon hire
  • Required:

    ACLS if working in ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) upon hire
  • Required:

    PALS if working in ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi – Child & Adolescent Center (113200) upon hire
  • Preferred: OCN or Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification upon hire
Additional Requirements
  • All clinical nurses with less than one year of RN experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
