Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/HCPC at UTHealth Houston is hiring Hospital Nurse Managers to join our growing team! At BSC, we have the largest academic psychiatric hospital in the country, serving the region with a 500+ bed facility. Our dedicated health care employees have the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of mental health specialties and cutting‑edge research.

At Dunn Behavioral Sciences Center/HCPC the Hospital Nurse Manager has an excellent opportunity to support and lead the care of patients across a variety of specialties while managing two units. With 23 specialized inpatient units, our facility provides individualized care across:

  • Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
  • Adult & Geriatric Care
  • Co-occurring Disorders
  • Psychosis Treatment
  • Competency Restoration
To be successful in this position, the Hospital Nurse Manager should have in-depth experience with data‑based decision making, tracking and looking at data trends. The Hospital Nurse Manager will be a change agent for BSC/HCPC and someone who can use clinical skills, data analytical skills, and leadership skills, to effectively manage large units with complex activities. In addition, they will participate in the rotation of On‑Call‑Administrator as needed and cover for the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) role as needed.

Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 4:30 PM / Participation in the rotation of On‑Call‑Administrator as needed and cover for the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) role as needed.

Position Summary:
Managerial oversight of all clinical, fiscal, compliance, environmental, and human resources activities for multiple inpatient units. Responsible for the management, evaluation, and coordination of nursing staff, and the direction of patient services for more than 60 inpatient beds.

Key Accountabilities:


Essential Functions
  • Provides direction, organization and supervision to 60 plus registered nurses, psychiatric technicians and other nursing services staff to ensure high quality inpatient care on a 24/7 basis.
  • Participates in the rotation of On‑Call‑Administrator as needed and cover for the Chief Nurse Officer (CNO) role as needed.
  • Oversees the scheduling/staffing system for Nursing Services to ensure compliance with the approved Staffing Plan and Guidelines.
  • Collaborates with all clinical treatment members, medical staff and other department heads regarding clinical operations.
  • Oversees the financial operations, to include management of a $16 million dollar budget, in collaboration with the CNO.
  • Oversees risk management / performance improvement processes for Nursing Services, to include analyzing data, root cause analysis, and submission of action plans, etc. as indicated.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agency specifications to meet federal, state and local standards.
