Locum Nurse Practitioner – General Medicine Houston, TX
Join a dynamic team dedicated to serving our nation's Veterans as a Locum Nurse Practitioner in General Medicine. This pivotal role offers flexible scheduling options and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact through non-treatment Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments. Whether you prefer per diem work at a VES facility or operating out of your own office, this position provides the versatility to fit your professional lifestyle while contributing to vital veteran care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interview-based exams, including physical assessments such as range of motion and muscle strength testing.
- Perform one-time non-treatment C&P exams and Separation Health Assessments.
- Complete reports and addendums efficiently within defined time frames.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and client-specific protocols.
- Valid Nurse Practitioner license with scope in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or related general medicine fields.
- Experience with compensation and pension assessments preferred.
- Excellent interview and physical assessment skills.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
Skills:
- Prior experience performing VA-related exams.
- Knowledge of veteran health requirements and procedural documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Education and Experience:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, ideally in internal medicine or general practice.
- Prior exposure to medicolegal assessments or veteran care beneficial.
- Local candidates only; travel included in rates within a 50-mile radius of the designated area.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including 4-hour or 8-hour shifts on a PRN basis.
- Quick onboarding process with efficient credentialing.
- Travel and licensure reimbursement where applicable.
- No certification or portal training costs prior to engagement; training completion required.
