Exciting Opportunity for Certified Nurse Practitioners in General Medicine – Houston, TX
Join a respected team providing vital healthcare services to our nation's veterans as a Locum Nurse Practitioner specializing in General Medicine. This position offers flexible, rewarding PRN shifts, allowing you to make a meaningful difference while maintaining control over your schedule. Whether working at a VES facility or your own office within a 50-mile radius of the designated areas, you will support veterans through essential Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments.
This role is ideal for experienced NPs committed to quality care and flexible scheduling.
Required Skills:
- Valid Nurse Practitioner licensure in Texas
- Proven experience in General Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related fields
- Strong interview and physical assessment skills, including range of motion and muscle strength testing
- Ability to perform non-treatment, interview-based exams efficiently
- Excellent organizational and report-writing capabilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Skills:
- Prior experience with Compensation & Pension exams or veteran healthcare
- Knowledge of government documentation and assessment protocols
- Familiarity with telehealth or remote documentation processes
- Bilingual abilities to serve diverse veteran populations
Education and Experience:
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing (MSN, DNP)
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- Prior experience in a government or military healthcare setting is a plus
- Within 50 miles of designated cities (Miles City, Havre, Harlem, Malta) or own licensed office within these areas
- Ability to attend quick credentialing and onboarding processes
- Availability for half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts, ongoing basis
- No travel reimbursement; rates include travel costs
- Commitment to adhering to all state and federal laws related to healthcare practice
