Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)
Location: Houston, TX
Employment Type: Full-Time
Shift: Nights | Rotating Weekends
Shift Length Options: 8-hour, 10-hour, or 12-hour shifts
About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric CVOR Registered Nurse to provide exceptional, patient-centered care to pediatric patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role requires specialized clinical expertise, strong critical-thinking skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary perioperative team.
The RN will support pediatric cardiac patients and their families throughout the surgical continuum, ensuring care is developmentally appropriate, emotionally supportive, and aligned with best practices in pediatric cardiovascular surgery.

- On-call responsibilities during select non-business hours
- Evaluate pediatric patients prior to cardiovascular surgical procedures
- Provide patient and family education related to procedures and perioperative care
- Prepare patients for surgery, including IV therapy, preoperative medications, and site verification
- Participate in surgical safety protocols including briefing, time-outs, and debriefings
- Recognize and respond promptly to patient emergencies
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based, patient-centered nursing care
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, surgical technologists, and care teams
- Apply the nursing process, critical thinking, and technical skills to ensure safe care delivery
- Monitor patient conditions throughout the shift and document care accurately
- Educate patients and caregivers on medical conditions, treatments, and post-operative care
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 60 days of hire
- Associate Degree in Nursing required
- BSN required (enrollment within 6 months and completion within 24 months)
- 1+ year of recent acute care RN experience
- Experience caring for patients recovering from cardiac surgery
- Experience in NICU, Mother-Baby, Pediatrics, or PICU
- Prior experience in a Children's Hospital setting
