Join Our Team as a Locum Nurse Practitioner – General Medicine Houston, TX

Are you a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with a passion for serving Veterans and providing critical healthcare evaluations? We are seeking a skilled Locum Nurse Practitioner to perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments in Houston, TX. This opportunity offers flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and the chance to make a meaningful impact on our nation’s Veterans.

In this vital role, you will conduct interview-based exams with some physical assessments, including range of motion and muscle strength testing, without prescribing or providing treatment. Your expertise will support Veterans’ benefits determination, ensuring they receive the care and recognition they deserve. You’ll work with either your own office within a 50-mile radius or at one of our facilities, depending on the coverage option that best fits your location.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid Nurse Practitioner license in Texas
  • Experience in family medicine, internal medicine, orthopedic surgery, or general medicine
  • Ability to perform Compensation & Pension exams and health assessments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • Capacity to follow strict protocols and adhere to schedules
Nice to Have

Skills:
  • Prior experience with Veterans’ assessments or government contracts
  • Knowledge of VA regulations and requirements
  • Certification in additional specialties (DMA, certification courses)
Preferred

Education and Experience:
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or higher in Nursing
  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience, preferably with Veterans or in a healthcare evaluation setting
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Other Requirements:
  • Willingness to work on a PRN basis with ongoing assignments
  • Flexibility to work half-day (4 hours) or full-day (8 hours) shifts, based on your availability
  • Local candidates only, with travel included in rates
  • Quick credentialing and onboarding process
  • No telehealth; in-person evaluations at your own office or VES facility depending on the need
Position Details:
  • Start Date:

    February 13, 2026
  • Hourly Pay Rate: $402.00; flat rates for exam shifts: $600 for half-day, $1200 for full day
  • One-time bonus of $650 upon completing training and your first exams
  • Ongoing, PRN assignments with consistent work opportunities
