Job Summary And Responsibilities

- Assessment:
Admission and ongoing assessment of patient’s condition; provides nursing care to meet physical, psychological, and spiritual needs. Notifies doctor of changes in assessment that require attention. - Planning:
Designs, directs, evaluates, and documents the plan of care, patient/family teaching and transition of care plan, including a safe discharge. Works with other clinical disciplines to meet specialized patient care and discharge needs. Formulates a plan of care and daily goals based on individualized patient needs. - Implementation:
Prepares patients for treatments, surgeries and diagnostic studies; reports significant changes to Charge Nurse/Team Leader and/or physician. Implements patient safety initiatives and protocols including medication safety practices, physician orders, and consult notifications. - Evaluation:
Reassesses patients at appropriate intervals following interventions and notifies physician as necessary to modify interventions. Adjusts nursing care to meet evolving patient needs. - Report
Skills:
Provides bedside and shift reports with family participation; delivers accurate, comprehensive handoff to oncoming shift and delegates tasks to maintain continuity of care. - Environment & Patient Safety:
Maintains a safe patient and work environment; promptly handles equipment and linen disposal; contributes to quality, safety, and patient satisfaction efforts; reports safety and hazard concerns immediately.
- Required:
- Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma; at least one (1) year RN experience at hire
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within 2 years from date of hire; current employees grandfathered before July 2020
- Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse performance expectations or equivalent experience at hire
- Licensed RN in TX at hire
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) within 14 days
- Preferred:
- Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred
