Registered Nurse (NC II) - F/T Nights - 4E Trauma/Surgical ICU (Ben Taub Hospital)

Job Summary: The Nurse Clinician II (NCII) will independently and safely manage patients with common problems in the Trauma/Surgical ICU. This role utilizes Texas Nursing Practice Act standards and the Hospital’s Nursing Service guidelines, recognizing when assistance is needed and seeking the appropriate resources.

• Provide direct nursing care to trauma and surgical ICU patients.
• Apply nursing standards, principles, and clinical algorithms to patient care scenarios.
• Independently manage patient care while determining when to consult or refer to additional resources.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Document all nursing care activities in accordance with regulatory and institutional policies.
• Participate in rounds, case discussions, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in Texas.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or an approved Red Cross program.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred; or diploma in Nursing from an accredited school.
• Minimum of one (1) year full‑time RN experience or completion of a Graduate Nursing Program.
• Preference for bilingual language skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and report writing.
• Proficiency with personal computers and electronic medical record systems.

• Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Mathematics, Medical Terms, clinical decision making.
• Work Schedule: Weekends, holidays, flexible shifts, on‑call duties; all nights.

Salary Range: $80,168.00 – $ per year.
