We are seeking a Surgical‑ICU (RN) for our facility to ensure that we continue to provide all patients with high quality, efficient care. • Responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care for assigned patients.
• Responsible for meeting the Standards of Practice for the Neuro Trauma Intensive Care Unit and managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment.
• Participates in activities to plan, measure, assess and improve the quality of patient care.
• Responds to Code Blue and implements life‑saving measures, per ACLS protocol.
• Interprets EKG rhythm strips and evaluates 12‑lead EKG.
• Monitors and titrates IV vasoactive, antiarrhythmic and other special drugs, as per physician order.
• Assesses patients in an on‑going manner, per patient acuity.
• Assists physician with procedures, as needed (i.e., thoracentesis, chest tube insertion, and venous access devices).
• Assumes the responsibility of charging the unit, as needed.
• Care of medical or surgical critical ill patient.
• Care post‑operative after heart surgery or neurosurgery (SICU).

• 1 year ICU experience required.
• Current Texas or compact state licensure with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
• Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required.
• ACLS certification within six months of hire.
• CCRN certification within two years of hire preferred.
• NIHSS certification within three months of hire, unless currently certified then needs to be maintained every two years.
• 8 hours of acute stroke education annually.
• Associate Degree in Nursing required, Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
