Position OverviewWe are seeking experienced Neonatal Nurse Practitioners for placement at hospitals and healthcare clinics throughout the Houston metropolitan area. These positions offer the opportunity to provide specialized care to newborns and premature infants in some of Texas's most advanced NICU facilities, including Level III and Level IV neonatal intensive care units.
Key Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care to neonatal patients in NICU settings, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment
- Manage ventilator support, umbilical lines, and other critical care interventions for high-risk newborns
- Perform procedures including intubation, chest tube placement, lumbar punctures, and umbilical catheter insertion
- Collaborate with neonatologists, physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
- Provide family-centered care including counseling and education for parents of NICU patients
- Participate in delivery room resuscitations and stabilization of critically ill newborns
- Document patient care accurately and maintain compliance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education activities
- Master's degree in Nursing with Neonatal Nurse Practitioner specialization
- Current NNP-BC certification from the National Certification Corporation (NCC)
- Active RN license (Texas license required or ability to obtain; Canadian & Mexico RNs eligible for TN visa sponsorship)
- Current BLS, NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and ACLS certifications
- Minimum 1-2 years of NICU experience preferred
- Strong clinical skills in neonatal assessment, critical care, and advanced procedures
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with families and healthcare teams
- Experience in Level III or Level IV NICU settings
- Experience with high-frequency ventilation, ECMO, and nitric oxide therapy
- Spanish language skills (bilingual English/Spanish a plus)
- Previous experience in teaching hospitals or academic medical centers
- Experience with complex surgical neonates and congenital anomalies
