Texas Oncology is looking for an Oncology Clinic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team! This position supports the Kingwood, Texas location. The schedule is Monday-Friday, no weekends or holidays, and no call.

• Oncology Clinic RN
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess health status by interviewing patient regarding current status and medical history.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material.
  • Provide psychosocial support to patients and families.
• Facilitates clinical operations and patient care
  • Manage patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and record the information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients.
  • Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient chart.
  • Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care as necessary.
  • Assist patients in locating available community resources.
• Inter professional collaboration
  • Acts as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants.

• Education/Training
  • Graduate from an accredited professional nursing education program, BSN preferred.
  • RN state license and current registration with State Board of Nursing.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Maintain continuing education requirements.
• Experience Levels
  • Level I – 0-3 years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level II – Minimum three (3) years nursing experience, oncology experience strongly preferred.
  • Level Senior – Minimum five (5) years nursing experience, at least one year in oncology strongly preferred; oncology certification preferred.

• Physical Requirements

  Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
