Overview
Registered Nurse – Labor & Delivery (Full-Time Nights)
The Registered Nurse collaborates with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high‑quality patient care using the nursing process. Responsibilities include performing comprehensive nursing assessments, assisting with examinations and procedures, providing patient education, and maintaining accurate medical records. Nurses are hired and leveled based on years of experience and demonstrated competency.
Responsibilities / Principal Accountabilities- Provide safe, evidence‑based nursing care aligned with patient needs and unit competencies.
- Coordinate patient care planning with the interdisciplinary team and exercise sound clinical judgment.
- Delegate and collaborate appropriately to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
- Develop and implement treatment, discharge, and transfer plans.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and program evaluations.
- Deliver patient‑centered care that reflects cultural, developmental, and individual needs.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory standards and Texas Board of Nursing requirements.
- Support a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors through adherence to organizational policies and best practices.
- Engage in ongoing professional development, required education, and competency validation.
- Serve as a preceptor, mentor, or resource for less experienced nursing staff.
- Demonstrate a commitment to compassionate, personalized patient care.
- Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- Full‑time night shift
- Level IV maternal care environment
- Unit structure may include:
- Labor rooms
- Antepartum beds
- Swing beds
- High‑volume setting with approximately 400–450 deliveries per month
- Supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth and exposure to complex maternal care.
- Minimum 3–5 years of Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care setting.
- Completed BSN from an accredited nursing program.
- Active Texas RN license or active multi‑state compact RN license in good standing, with no stipulations or disciplinary actions.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Minimum 3–5 years of recent acute care Labor & Delivery experience.
- ADN candidates, new graduates, or those without L&D experience will not be considered.
- Full‑time night shift availability only.
- No day shift, part‑time, transfer, or promotional opportunities are available.
- Only candidates seeking permanent night shift roles will be reviewed.
- Clear communication about preferred unit, shift, and location to ensure long‑term fit and retention.
- Additional experience in extended women’s services (antepartum, postpartum, high‑risk OB) is beneficial.
