ResponsibilitiesWe are actively hiring for a Registered Nurse (RN) Pre Op PACU.
- Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
- Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility or healthcare organization policies and procedures, including evaluation of:
- cardiovascular system,
- respiratory system and airway management needs,
- neurological system,
- hemodynamic stability,
- pain and comfort needs, and
- mental status.
- Interpret information accurately from various noninvasive and invasive monitors.
- Describe the underlying pathophysiology of commonly encountered disease processes.
- Describe the physiology associated with various anesthesia techniques and surgical or procedural interventions.
- Apply relevant scoring systems/discharge criteria for patient transfer (e.g., Aldrete Score, PARSAP, PADSS, White score) as defined by organizational policy.
- Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
- Implement the plan of care, including interventions such as:
- Managing patient recovery from anesthesia (general, monitored anesthesia care, regional, local),
- Protecting patients from injury caused by positioning, thermal sources, and extraneous objects,
- Communicating patient status throughout the peri-anesthesia continuum,
- Providing pain management, medication administration using the 8 rights, maintaining wound and tissue perfusion, managing co-morbid conditions, and ensuring patient safety and comfort.
- Evaluate patient progress and transfer care as needed.
- Provide accurate, concise hand-off reports.
- Delegate tasks according to legal and organizational guidelines.
- Document care thoroughly and legibly.
- Collaborate with other disciplines and participate in quality improvement projects.
- Engage in professional growth, act as a patient advocate, and maintain confidentiality.
- Comply with policies, participate in team meetings, and demonstrate fiscal responsibility.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum one year of Preoperative or PACU experience.
- Medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
- Current state nursing license in good standing.
- Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
- Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
- PALS certification required if pediatric care is included in scope.
