Registered Nurse (RN) II Periop. Servs PACU FT Days

Location:

Houston, TX | Full‑time

Salary: $80,168.00 – $

Join Houston Methodist Hospital as a Registered Nurse (RN) II in the perioperative team. The RN II provides professional nursing care to a diverse patient population, performing assessments, assisting with exams, caring for patients in the post‑anesthesia care unit, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the PACU, including monitoring, assessments, and interventions.
  • Collaborate with physicians and the interprofessional team to coordinate compassionate, efficient, and quality care.
  • Advocate for patients and families, ensuring patient rights are maintained.
  • Lead and participate in unit governance, serve as charge nurse or preceptor, and contribute to service line initiatives.
  • Implement evidence‑based nursing practices and drive quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an approved education program for RN licensure.
  • Minimum 12 months of registered nurse experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Texas state RN license and BLS/ACLS certification; instructor certification preferred.
  • Preferred Magnet certification;
    Pediatric Advanced Life Support if caring for pediatrics.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication, organizational, and time‑management skills.

Essential Functions

  • Use therapeutic communication and active listening to build relationships with patients, families, and the care team.
  • Perform nursing assessments, develop and communicate care plans, and provide patient education.
  • Coordinate and document care accurately, including discharge planning and follow‑up.
  • Contribute to unit scorecards on patient satisfaction, safety, and financial performance.
  • Lead improvement projects, champion innovation, and share evidence‑based practice findings.

On‑Call & Travel

  • Employees may be required to be on‑call during emergencies.
  • Travel may be required within the Houston metropolitan area; no travel outside Houston is required.
