Under the general direction of the Inpatient Services Director for the designated Nursing Unit, the Registered Nurse is responsible for professional nursing care and related assistance to patients on an assigned Unit. Provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non-professional nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the objectives of the Hospital.

Applies knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span to identify patient and family requirements relative to age specific needs.

• Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
• Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
• Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

• BCLS
• Graduate of a licensed, accredited school of nursing - diploma, associates required, or bachelor’s preferred
• State of Texas RN
• 1 year of acute care hospital experience required
