We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dynamic healthcare team. This position is for inpatient care only, covering pediatric cardiology patients at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Heart Center Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced hospital setting, with a focus on inpatient floor management, admissions, and discharges.

Prior experience with pediatric cardiac patients is a plus!

Cardiology APP (In-Patient)

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Manages inpatients in the HCIMU as primary team member (post- surgical and medical patients) and in the NICU as a consultant
  • Delivers direct medical care to hospitalized patients within a hospital setting, performing tasks like patient assessments, diagnosis, treatment planning, medication management, and communication with attending physicians, all under the supervision of a supervising doctor, while managing the complexities of acute care situations within the inpatient unit.
  • Consults on patients referred for Cardiology outside of cardiac center (ED, NICU, Gen Peds, etc)
  • Acts as resource for internal and external health care providers.
  • Communicates daily (ideally multiple times per day with the service attending and the team)
  • Attends patient care conferences as indicated
Schedule:

  • Current schedule is 10-hour shifts including weekend coverage (typically 1 full weekend per month, subject to change based on patient needs and current staffing)
  • Holidays, at least one major and 1-2 minor depending on patient needs and current staffing, subject to change based on patient needs
  • Currently night coverage is not required however this is subject to change based on patient needs
