Job Description
UTHealth Houston is seeking a Nurse Manager to lead our Neurosciences, Pain, Spine, and Neuro‑Oncology clinics at Memorial Hermann‑Texas Medical Center. This role ensures safe, efficient, and patient‑centered workflows while providing clinical leadership, quality oversight, staff support, and cultural excellence.
Operational Leadership- Oversee daily clinic operations to ensure safe, efficient, and patient‑centered workflows.
- Conduct and lead the daily morning huddle, setting priorities and aligning the team.
- Monitor patient flow, room utilization, and staffing throughout the day; proactively escalates issues.
- Partner with scheduling, providers, and support teams to optimize throughput and reduce bottlenecks.
- Act as an on‑site clinical resource for staff, supporting competency, safety, and adherence to protocols.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection prevention, medication management, and documentation standards.
- Monitor key quality indicators and participate in performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide real‑time coaching, mentorship, and support to nursing and medical assistant teams.
- Assist with onboarding, training, professional development, and competency validation.
- Address daily staffing needs, assignments, and workflow adjustments to support patient care.
- Participate in performance feedback, corrective action, and staff evaluations as delegated.
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and respectful work environment that supports teamwork and service excellence.

Directs, supervises, and coordinates nursing staff to assure high quality, optimum patient care. Responsible for the management and evaluation of clinical personnel and may provide direction to operational, clinical and administrative staff in a clinic or clinics.
Position Key Accountabilities- Coordinate schedules of physicians, administrative and nursing staff to ensure adequate coverage and maximum utilization of manpower.
- Manage duty assignments of clinical staff, including Staff Nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and Medical Assistants based on physician availability and patient load; may fill in for illness, vacations, or emergencies.
- Schedule up to 160 doctors who may see up to 700 patients per week.
- Monitor departmental expenditures against a budget and compile daily and monthly administrative reports.
- Responsible for economical, efficient, and quality performance of assigned clinic/area; formulate goals and outcomes using evidence‑based analysis.
- Properly handle patient records and coordinate admissions, scheduling, personnel changes, supplies, and issues relating to appointments or charges.
- Handle phone calls from patients regarding medical problems and lab results; refer unusual or emergent concerns to physicians.
- Maintain inventory levels to assure efficient clinic operation.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local standards; use quality‑improvement tools to collect and report data.
