OverviewThe Registered Nurse, PAT coordinates pre‑admission testing and interview/assessment process for patients scheduled to undergo invasive or surgical procedures. Communicates with providers to optimize patient condition prior to surgery.
Responsibilities- Ensures supplies and equipment are available and in good working order.
- Explains nursing procedures and actions taken to reduce anxiety.
- Assesses patient’s physical and mental status.
- Documents patient care accurately in the medical record.
- Implements doctors’ orders in a timely and accurate manner.
- Coordinates patient care and provides explanations and teaching to patient/family.
- Plans for routine events, anticipates/prevents and manages/em evaluates emergent situations.
- Adapts to unexpected changes.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes safety and reduces likelihood of errors.
- Participates in performance improvement activities.
- Works independently demonstrating sound judgment and reliability.
- Initiative and ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflict.
- Thrives and succeeds in a team environment.
- Exceptional organization skills; ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain attention to detail.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills with strong decision‑making and attention to detail.
- Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Registered Nurse in the State of Texas.
- One (1) year of perioperative nursing experience.
- Basic Life Support certified.
- Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
- 3 Medical Plans.
