Job

We are searching for a Registered Nurse for our Surgical/Ortho/Trauma unit – someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. 11WT is a 36 bed surgical/orthopedic/trauma unit. The unit consists of 32 general admission beds and 4 designated trauma beds. 11WT receives a wide array of surgical patients from a variety of surgical services.

Types of Services
  • General Surgery: appendectomies, hernia repairs, pectus repairs, tumor resections
  • Orthopedic Surgery: spinal fusions, bone fractures, osteotomies
  • Urology Surgery: ureteral re-implants, nephrectomies, bladder augmentations
  • Plastic Surgery: cleft lip and/or palate repairs, rhinoplasties, brachial plexus repairs

The 4 trauma beds are used for patients who have sustained a multisystem or severe injury from some sort of trauma. You may also see minor trauma patients throughout the unit. Some of the types of trauma that we see are motor vehicle accidents, auto-pedestrian accidents, ATV accidents, gunshot wounds, sports injuries, and child abuse. The nurses who care for these patients in the trauma rooms have received additional training on how to care and manage these types of patients.

The trauma nurse is an expanded role that is offered on 11WT.

The goal of 11WT is to create a unit that patients, families, and prospective employees strongly desire to be a part of because we are the best at what we do.
