We are seeking a highly organized and compassionate Desk Registered Nurse to support a leading physician group in Houston, working with their Adult Medicine and OB teams. This role centers on patient communication, care coordination, and phone triage in a fast-paced outpatient environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, patient-focused, and confident using the EMR system Epic.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable outpatient healthcare experience while working with one of the fastest-growing medical groups in the Houston area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review daily schedules and patient charts
- Answer and triage patient phone calls and portal messages
- Assess reported symptoms and determine next steps using established protocols
- Communicate patient concerns to providers and relay care instructions
- Review lab and imaging results and flag abnormalities for provider review
- Document calls, messages, and care coordination in the EHR
- Coordinate referrals, prior authorizations, and follow-up appointments
- Provide patient education via phone or patient portal (medications, chronic conditions, preventive care, warning signs, etc.)
- Collaborate with providers and clinic staff to support efficient patient flow
- Complete administrative tasks related to patient care coordination
- Perform some in-clinic duties as needed
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Texas
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience
- Proficiency with Epic EMR
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Preferred:
Bilingual in Spanish
